EquineLUX Saddle Pads

Purchase Policy

Our standard, non-customized saddle pads are designed exclusively to fit regular (standard) flap configurations. To ensure our pad matches your saddle, you must verify your saddle's dimensions against our official Size Chart prior to placing an order.

Saddle flap Measurements & Size Chart compatibility

To guarantee a correct fit, please measure your saddle using the two benchmarks below and cross-reference them with our chart:

  • Flap Length (vertical): Measure from the very top of the stirrup bar down to the lowest bottom edge of the saddle flap. Our regular pads accommodate standard vertical drops only.
  • Flap Width/Forwardness (Horizontal): Measure across the widest part of the flap from the straightest rear edge to the furthest forward point of the knee roll.

EquineLUX saddle pads and half-pads size chart

Almost all major hunter/jumper saddle brands offer regular (standard) flap length and standard/straight flap configurations. While forward-cut and long flaps are highly popular for tall or long-legged riders, standard configurations remain the default benchmark for average-height riders or those with shorter femurs.

Understanding how different brands label a "regular" or "straight" flap is key to finding the right match, as French, Italian, and traditional English manufacturers use distinct coding systems.

French Brands (Custom & High-End)
Premium French brands use custom alphanumeric codes to designate flap length and forwardness. For a standard, non-forward, regular-length flap, look for the following codes on the market:

  • CWD: Look for a 2C or 2N. The "2" represents a regular/standard length, while "C" or "N" indicates a standard, regular-cut forwardness. Avoid any configurations with an "A" (Forward) or "AA" (Extra Forward).
  • Voltaire Design: Look for a 2A or 2N. In Voltaire's sizing, a "2" is the standard length. A "Pro" or "N" flap represents their straighter, standard cut, whereas "AA" or "AAA" indicates an extra-forward cut.
  • Devoucoux: Look for a 2B or 2N. The number "2" indicates standard length, and "B" or "N" specifies the standard, regular forwardness profile.
  • Butet: Look for a 2 or 2DF (depending on the model age). Butet also uses unique decimal sizing where a 2.50 indicates a standard length and straight cut, whereas numbers ending in .25 denote forward cuts.
  • Antares & Bruno Delgrange: Look for a 2N (Antares) or 2L (Delgrange). For Delgrange, "2" is standard length and "L" indicates their straightest standard flap.

Italian Brands
Italian saddle makers are highly adjustable and known for clean, traditional hunter lines that position the rider centrally.

  • Prestige Italia: Models like the Prestige Elegance Jump Saddle or Prestige Hunter Classic come off the line with a standard flap length and a regular projection (often designated simply as Standard or Regular).
  • Equipe: Equipe saddles offer a traditional, close-contact fit. Their standard stock models feature a regular flap length and a normal (non-advanced) forwardness cut that aligns beautifully for Equitation and Hunter classes.

Production & Off-the-Shelf Brands
If you are looking for ready-to-wear saddles that default to standard proportions without custom ordering, these brands are highly reliable choices:

  • Henri de Rivel (HDR): Widely accessible line featuring traditional hunter profiles. Models like the Henri de Rivel Advantage Close Contact Saddle are explicitly patterned around a classic, flat-seat regular flap layout.
  • Bates & Arena Saddles: Stocked widely across North America, the Bates Close Contact Hunter Jumper Saddle features standard, regular flap proportions out of the box. Their adjustable ergonomic stirrup bars allow you to customize your leg position without needing an aggressively forward-cut flap.
  • Stubben: Traditional models like the Stubben Edelweiss or Stubben Ascend are famous for straight, close-contact flaps that do not push the rider's knee excessively forward, making them a favorite for equitation riders who prefer a very straight leg alignment.
